AAUW Hagerstown Branch 2023 Scholarship Winners

KATIE KECKLER, a graduate of North Hagerstown High School, is a third-year recipient of an AAUW scholarship. She is attending Shepherd University to become a high school English teacher. She is very active on campus with many activities and organizations, including the Shepherd RAM band, the Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority, Sigma Alpha Iota, Student Ambassadors, Panhellenic Council, All Greek Council, the Kappa Delta Pi honors education fraternity, and the Shepherd honors college organization. Katie was unable to attend the reception.

MEGAN SEIBERT graduated from Smithburg High School and will attend the University of South Carolina; College of Pharmacy majoring in pharmaceutical science, a six year program. She said that injuries during sports and interest in how bodies react to pharmaceuticals led her in this field; her cousin Franny, as a young female pharmacist, has inspired her, too.

GRACE CAUDELL, dual enrolled in Williamsport High School and Hagerstown Community College, graduated with an associate of arts degree. She will be attending St Mary’s College of MD, majoring in Biology Neuroscience with goals to become a physician’s assistant with a Master’s degree. Her cardiologist Kathleen has been her inspiration, showing that healthcare is a field that is enjoyable and can help others.

SARAH BECKER graduated from Boyd J. Michael III Technical High School and Williamsport High School. She will be attending the University of Harford Radiologic Technology program majoring in Radiologic Technology to finish as a certified x-ray technician. Sarah wants to work in an emergency department. Her inspiration came from her own experiences with surgeries and the connection she had with her own radiologic technicians.

The branch wishes them much success as they transition to this next phase of their lives. We appreciate the work done by the scholarship committee headed by Kelly Weaver; it is not an easy task to read and assess scholarship applications.
